Back in February Hire and Style were approached by the lovely April Moores of Kook Events, she was working on a styled wedding shoot with a ‘Dark Romance’ theme with the much heralded venue, The Normans, and asked if we’d like to get involved in styling the venue for the shoot. We worked together identifying the perfect pieces to suit the exquisite spaces at The Normans.

Skip to the day of the shoot, and we arrived bright and early to meet with April and the photographer for the day; Taylar Jayde. The Normans is such a gorgeous venue and it worked perfectly for the style we were working towards. Firstly, the Ceremony Barn was dressed with our floor standing gold lanterns creating an aisle, whilst a foliage arch stood proud at the top of the barn framed by candles within our storm lanterns. This was then restyled for a wedding breakfast, one long table (courtesy of All Things Borrowed) dressed with lush fruit, cured meats, nuts and fresh breads. Our elaborate pewter 9 arm candelabra with deep red tapered candles were the showpiece. Such a fantastic contrast to the rustic setting.

We then moved the shoot along to The Stables where we had dressed the stalls with our deco waterfall chandeliers, faux fur throws and twinkling glassware with twinkling candlelight, Kate Mell Flowers also did a sterling job with foliage and the most gorgeous hand tied bouquet.

Outside in The Courtyard our barrel bar was set up and dressed for a cake table, Poppy Pickering is to thank for the fabulous jet-black wedding cake decorated with intricate flowers. This worked wonderfully alongside our gold candlesticks and plenty of pillar candles.

We ended the day with some more outdoor shots of the models in the surrounding fields and the homely cottage that is on site (perfect for a bride to get ready in) and that was a wrap. The Norman’s is truly a wonderful venue for a wedding as it offers such great spaces for your wedding ceremony, reception drinks, wedding breakfast and even a marquee lined barn for the celebrations to continue late into the evening.
